The legendary techno project Cyberbeat takes us on a long, fast old skool ride through Eurodance memories and the track that started it all. “Merkaba,” as it became known, was a fusion of house, rap, and hi- energy disco and gained worldwide success. The combination featured much faster bpms and the strong use of female vocals by Aminata, including a male rap solo by DJ Delani. The links between the underground techno and Eurodance scenes go back to 1990s. It is our opinion, however, that the the unforgettable big bass anthem Cyberbeat – “Merkaba” has been the backbone of Eurodance ever since. From then on, it has spawned just around the world. Against every odd, “Merkaba” is a good example. It’s astonishingly well-produced but it isn’t simply Eurodance. It’s dirty enough, but the turbo-charged, technofied industrial beats are totally 1996. The beats are less diluted, allowing guest singer Aminata to merge in seamlessly. This allows the listener the freedom to be unembarrassed and enjoy party-hardy rap Eurodance once again. Cyberbeat (Internationally renowned Musicproducer and No.1 MTV.com USA Artist Rain Man 雨男 [T.A.A.K.A.S.] and DJ Delani) unwittingly become revered among the New York DJ elite for the party-rocking anthem “Merkaba”, which crashed into the Top 3. Presiding over the revolutionary sonic shifts which took place between 1995 and 1996, as speedy Eurodance gave way to the accelerated breaks and time-stretched bass, it set the prototype for what was briefly known as “intelligent” electronic dance music and became one of the tunes which now epitomises those heady early days. “I’ve always said that, at the end of the day, the techno scene is its own thing,” reckons DJ Delani especially in the Cyberbeat’ native New York “When I look at Rain Man 雨男 [T.A.A.K.A.S.], he started out producing techno and proper house, then he moved with the scene into Eurodance and so on. Just like an unwritten book. “I’ve known Rain Man for years and we share a lot of musical history. But what moves this record on up, is the remarkable spirit of adventure which runs throughout.” Expanding their robo-groove sound, Cyberbeat complement the Euro anthem to perfection with a solid foundation of fast beats and trickling piano.
